Art in the Park – May 8, 2021
The best art show and sale in Jonesborough usually takes place in May each year. The show is held on the grounds of the International Storytelling Center in the heart of Jonesborough. This is the premier indoor/outdoor art festival in the Tri-Cities and is a rain or shine event and free and open to the public.
Spring in Northeast Tennessee brings thousands of tourists to this area to see the mother nature coming to life as the first redbuds and crocus bloom. A favored tourist spot is Historic Downtown Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee, which will be teaming with spring colors and decorations.
The goal of this show is to highlight the fine art produced in our region. The Town of Jonesborough is dedicated to bringing the community at large closer together and show other communities the creative influence that the arts can bring to their quality of life. It is imperative that the quality of this fine art show be maintained and offer patrons the opportunity to experience art of the highest standards.
Visitors can look forward to a rich tapestry of mediums, ranging from painting to photography, glasswork, mosaics, woodworking, jewelry, knife making, pottery and more. A stringent selection policy, focusing on quality, assures the event will have the highest caliber of regional artwork on display and for sale.
This event also awards prizes to the best artist vendors, and visitors are welcome to attend the award ceremony. Awards are determined by a panel of judges and awarded to the artists by Jonesborough’s Mayor on Saturday morning. Awards for Best in Show, Second and Third are given out along with, Best New Artist, Best in Tasting, and several Honorable Mentions. Ribbons will be displayed on the artist’s tents or tables which will be viewable until 7pm.
Visitors to Art in the Park will also enjoy free music and may also purchase food and beverages during the event.
