April 5, 2020 | 7 – 9pm
Location: McKinney Center
The Masterpiece Mingle at the McKinney Center is an art fundraising project to benefit Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program in Jonesborough, TN. The McKinney Center is a town operated facility that employs 17 professional art faculty, conducts over 80 classes and workshops each semester with a current enrollment of over 200 students, organizes multiple exhibitions per year, including the Juried Art Exhibition, Journeys of Women Exhibition, and Fine Art in the Park. The net proceeds of this event will go to support programming at the center.
The name, “Masterpiece Mingle,” reflects the fact that, for your ticket price, you will receive a work of art to take home along with an evening of music, food, and fun! Light appetizers will be served.
Last year was our first time holding the event and it SOLD OUT! This year will be even better! We invite you to be apart of our largest fundraising event of the year!
March 25 | Art must be delivered to the McKinney Center
April 5, 7-9pm | Event
HOW IT WORKS:
When you purchase a ticket for this event you receive a beautiful masterpiece created by a local artist. As you sign in for the evening and get your name tag, you will also draw a number which corresponds to one of the works of art. If you would like to trade your artwork for another one, you are given a fabric swatch to attach to your name tag which tells everyone you are willing to trade. This encourages mingling and conversation! At the end of the night you must check out with a staff person who will then retrieve your work of art which you will take home.
There will also be a room full of silent auction items consisting of additional art, books, gift baskets, and more!
Between now and March 25, you will receive the “Artist” ticket price of $25.00. On March 26, the regular ticket price will be $35.00. General admission tickets are $35.00.
HOW ARTISTS AND ART SUPPORTERS CAN HELP:
We want to fill the McKinney Center auditorium with 125-150 unique works of art – all around 8” x 8” in size. Please do not let this size limit keep you from participating in the event. If your piece is slightly smaller or larger, or doesn’t fit within those perimeters for some reason (i.e. jewelry) please discuss it with us. We are happy to have the donation!
We are asking artists and art supporters to create 8x8 works of art to donate to the McKinney Center in order that we may provide one work to each ticket holder. We will accept 2D and 3D work. All work must include hanging hardware, suitable for hanging, or capable of siting on a pedestal. 2D work does not have to be framed.
We ask that artists do not sign the front of the work. Please sign work on the back (2D) or bottom (3D). We are also asking each artist to write a brief note to the recipient of the artwork explaining why the artist created the piece, what the artist wishes for the recipient, or why it is important to support the arts. This note will be attached to the back of the artwork or label if appropriate.
We are also looking for larger works of art for our silent auction. You may place a minimum bid on original works. 100% of the proceeds will go to the MKC. You may also donate books, art supplies, baskets, etc.
Artists will retain copyright to their original images, but will grant the McKinney Center rights to reproduce in print and on the internet for marketing purposes.
BENEFITS TO THE ARTIST AND ART SUPPORTERS
We are asking any interested person to help us with this project. Artists, art supporters, local officials, and volunteers are all being asked to produce art for this event. The more diverse the work is, the more unique our event will be! Please refer this project to your friends. Donors will receive the $25.00 discount ticket price through Mach 25.
All participating artists will receive recognition in print, social media, radio, etc.
