McKinney Center Advisory Committee
Our Purpose:
The McKinney Center Advisory Committee was established by ordinance in 2014 by the Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen as a means to encourage community support, advice, and input of the operation of the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School, and the offerings of Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts. The committee works with McKinney Center staff to develop and recommend operating policies and procedures that help ensure program participants receive the best possible instruction in the arts. The Advisory Committee also assists in the development of activities designed to use the arts and the McKinney Center as a way to build relationships and community.
Membership and Terms:
The Advisory Committee is made up of nine (9) members who serve three (3) year terms, except for one member from the Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen whose term is contiguous with his or her term on the Town Board. Terms were initially staggered so no more than three members are up for re-appointment or replacement each year. The members are recommended by the Mayor and approved by Town Board. Anyone interested in being a member of the McKinney Center Advisory Committee is encouraged to speak with existing Committee member, Theresa Hammons – the McKinney Center Director, or to a member of the Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Current Members of the McKinney Center Advisory Committee:
- Heide Ehle
