Location: McKinney Center
Celebrate the season a dozen ways at the McKinney Center’s Annual Soup and Song Fundraiser. In this fun holiday experience, audiences enter the McKinney Center auditorium for a walk through of a dozen beautifully decorated live Holiday Displays from around the world. Depicted are scenes of an Early American Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chanukah, Puerto Rico’s Three Kings Day, Chinese Winter Solstice, Germany’s St. Niklaus Day, a Victorian English Boxing Day, Mexican Las Posadas, Japanese Omisaka, a Bethlehem Nativity, and Celtic Yule. Live musicians elevate the experience with cheery holiday tunes, while Santa Claus and the Grinch guide the world-travelers through the event. At the end of the “tour,” audiences receive their package of a “Soup-To-Go-Meal” containing a pint of a soup of their choice, bread, a homemade chocolate chip cookie, and a beautiful hand-made ceramic ornament. This event supports the McKinney Center Scholarship Program and the StoryTown Radio Show.
