Living Here: A Portrait of Jonesborough Exhibit

The McKinney Center is presenting “Living Here: A Portrait ofJonesborough,” an exhibit displaying portraits of people living and working inJonesborough. Patrons of the exhibit will have a unique opportunity: to walkinto the McKinney Center auditorium and see the faces of people they have nevermet before and those they have known for years, all next to each other.

 

The goal of the exhibit is to display the rich diversity of peoplethat make up this East Tennessee town. It will be available for viewingSeptember 13th to September 25th. There will be areception on Friday, September 13th from 6pm-8pm.

 

Come and see the portraits and meet the people featured in theexhibit. This community is full of people with all kinds of backgrounds andperspectives. By presenting their portraits next to each other, the exhibitillustrates the ways people get along with each other, despite differences, inJonesborough.

 

Paired with the portraits will be a YouTube video for each person.In these videos, each person tells about what brought them here, what life herehas been like, and their hopes for Jonesborough moving forward. Each person hasa lifetime of memories and stories. There are farmers, storeowners, storeworkers, students, artists, electricians, politicians, volunteers, and, as youknow, more. This project offers an opportunity for you to hear from thesepeople as they share parts of their lives.
