SUMMARY:Artists Exhibition Featuring Merinda Crowder Reception
DESCRIPTION:McKinneyCenter.com \nTheMcKinney Center will be featuring painter Merinda Crowder in their first exhibitionof the year which will open to the public on Friday\, February 24..Theexhibition reception will take place on Friday\, February 24\, 5 – 7pm.  The exhibition is free and open to the publicand will be up through March 24. \nMerinda grew up in a small rural town of 100 in the SnowyMountains of Australia surrounded by the beauty of nature.  Early in her life\, Crowder came to understandthat humans are not in nature\, they are nature. That understanding is the source of Crowders wellspring of creativity. \n  \nCrowder spent many years traveling and living in variouscountries.  She states\, “ I haveexperienced the incredible beauty of the natural world\, it reinformed myunderstanding and became the foundation of who I am as an artist” \n  \nAfter Crowder left her corporate career\, she had the desire tobegin painting.  At first\, she usedbrushes but soon learned that the technique was limiting for her.  She found freedom when she discovered fluidpainting.  She felt that by finding thisnew form of painting that her true creative soul sprang free.  She felt liberated!  As a fluid artist Crowder uses paint in acontrolled way to create complex and whimsical landscapes in her own way.  She takes the randomness of the paint as itfloats on the canvas and with her own special technique move it intorecognizable landscapes\, transforming fluid acrylics into a different type ofart. Sometimes it takes many sessions of pouring and drying and pouring againto achieve the desired outcome. \n  \nCrowder states that “life has brought me full circle\,” back to herrural roots.  She now lives in abeautiful community in Northeast Tennessee and once again\, is surrounded bystunning mountains and able to live each day as part of nature\, free toexperience and create. \n  \nCrowder’s exhibition at the McKinney Center is titled\, “ColorfulSerenity.”  She hopes that viewers willconnect with nature and move away from the analytical world\, and instead let goand feel the beauty\, joy and peace of life. \n  \nVisitors to the exhibition will be able to experience Crowder’spassion for the arts as the artwork on exhibit will be for sale. \n  \nFor more information you may contact the McKinney Center\,423.753.0562.
