CarolMcCreary to Exhibit Work at the McKinney Center

Jonesborough’sMary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center is pleased to inviteyou to an event on Friday, March 20, 6-8pm featuring the work of artist CarolMcCreary.  The exhibition will runthrough April 17.  The McKinney Center isopen Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.  Theevent is free and open to the public.  Mostall the artwork will be on sale to the public during the duration of theexhibition.

Carol McCreary is a member of theKingsport Art Guild and has won awards in their Member Art Show and Fun FestFine Arts competition.  McCreary has beenworking on assemblages for about six years. Her art before that time was painting but she fell in love with usingantique and vintage oddities to tell a story. Another interest of McCreary’s is clocks and time.  That is why most of her pieces are in preelectronic clock cases or contain mechanical clock parts.

Before retirement, McCreary was ateacher for eleven years in America, Canada, and the British Embassy School inMoscow.  She worked with teachers on howto use computers in their lessons and classrooms.  From computers to antique clocks seems a farfetch, but is all in one with a fascination in how things work!

TheMcKinney Center houses the Jonesborough Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts andboasts of a mission to be, “committed to inspiring the people of our areathrough both the appreciation of and the participation in the arts as a form ofpersonal and collective expression.”  Theobjective of the program is to “bring the community at large closer togetherand show as an example to other communities the creative influence that thearts can bring to their quality of life.” The McKinney Center is a department within the Town of Jonesborough.
