McKinney Center Online Art Exhibit
Beverly Thomas Jenkins, born and raised in Texas, moved to East Tennessee in 1980. Beverly grew up in a family that engulfed her in the world of art at a very early age. Art is in Beverly’s veins, as her father has been an artist for over 65 years. “In 2007 when I first began – I just couldn’t stop, I love creating mosaics so much, it is my heart and my passion!”
Beverly is a self-taught mosaic artist. Her initial interest for mosaic came from a large 7’ x 4’ mosaic table her parents made in 1963, which was her dining room table while growing up. Beverly uses all types of medium in her work, such as Venetian & Mexican Smalti, stone, marble, pottery, metals, found objects, art glass, etc. She has recently studied under Italian mosaic artist, Giulio Menossi.
Beverly teaches mosaic classes at The McKinney Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee. She is also a member of Tennessee Craft, SAMA, CMA, BAMA, and the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville, Tennessee, and currently has mosaic art work in many private residences throughout the U.S. and worldwide, including several public collections such as the Boston Children’s Hospital and hotels in California.
